With the help of our community partners and volunteers, the 2024 Season has been great! We have had so many activities for kids of all ages and we are excited that many hundreds of people got to enjoy this amazing resource.

Join Friends of Wollaston Beach at Shamrock Splash - Sunday, March 10 at 11:30 am Constitution Beach, East Boston
The Shamrock Splash is the premier fundraiser for Save the Harbor/Save the Bay (SH/SB), the region’s leading voice for clean water and continued public investment in Boston Harbor, the region’s public beaches, including Wollaston Beach, and the Boston Harbor Islands,
The funds raised through the Shamrock Splash (http://shamrocksplash.org) allow us to provide FREE ocean-themed activities for kids of all ages including KidsFest, Movies, Story Time, Books, Coastal and Wastewater Education and so much more!

Fundraising is optional but encouraged. FWB will reimburse the registration fee to any splasher who raises $100 for the team. And check out the amazing prizes for the top fundraisers. After the plunge, participants will warm up with plenty of hot clam chowder and Harpoon beverages!

Coastsweep 2023
Capping off the currently-planned events is FWB’s annual participation in Coastsweep - Saturday, September 16 from 10:00 am to noon on Wollaston Beach near the yacht clubs. COASTSWEEP Massachusetts was formed in 1987. COASTSWEEP participants join hundreds of thousands of other volunteers in the world’s largest volunteer effort for the ocean — Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup — collecting trash, fishing line and other marine debris, and recording data on what they find. This data is used to find solutions for keeping trash out of the ocean
Sunset Yoga on the Beach
FWB is pleased to sponsor free Earthen Yoga on the Beach with Christine Cotter. All levels are welcome, beginner friendly. Please bring a mat, towel, and water. Story Hour at the Tot Lot
FWB will again join forces with the Thomas Crane Public Library for Story Hour at the Tot Lot across from the Beach (E. Elm St.). Ms. Dorothy and her team will wow the audience of 2-6 year olds with stories, games and dancing. In case of inclement weather, we will move to the North Quincy branch of the Library
Kids Fest 2023
Collaborating with Asian Women for Health, this year will feature DJ, dancing, sack races, 3 legged races, glitter tattoos, corn hole, bubble barge, splash tower, sand art, noodle hockey, origami, takeaways – and so much more!
Yoga on the Beach
Yoga on the Beach with Lori Scott will be held on Sunday, July 16 at 8:00 am at the north end of Wollaston Beach. While all FWB programs are free and open to the public, space is limited for yoga, so reservations are required by emailing Lori at loriscottyoga@gmail.com.
Story Hour with Thomas Crane Public Library
FWB, in partnership with the Thomas Crane Public Library, will present the first of two story hours at the Tot Lot across from Wollaston Beach (W. Elm Street). Story hour will begin at 10:00 am and will be geared to children 2-6 years of age.
FWB Meeting - DCR Shorebird Protection
The Friends of Wollaston Beach (FWB) will kick off the season with a meeting on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at the Wollaston Yacht Club, 692 Quincy Shore Drive from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The speaker, DCR's Shorebird Protection Program Coordinator, will discuss DCR’s efforts to protect the plover population on Wollaston Beach, and shorebirds in general. Light refreshments will be served.
Shamrock Splash 2023
Shamrock Splash 2023 returns to fully in person at Constitution Beach in East Boston on March 12th at 1pm.
Join our intrepid and indefatigable plungers to raise money for Save the Harbor/ Save the Bay, which in turn funds free family-friendly events at Wollaston Beach
DICK HERBERT HOLIDAY TOY DRIVE 2022
Friends of Wollaston Beach invites members and the general public to stop by and drop off new, unwrapped toys to be distributed to needy children through Interfaith Social Services. Not sure what to buy? Gift cards and monetary donations are a perfect alternative and would be greatly appreciated! Gift cards and checks can be dropped off at the Open House (or at Interfaith, 105 Adams Street, Quincy). Checks should be made payable to Interfaith Social Services with Friends of Wollaston Beach in the memo section. Enjoy a slice of pizza and engage in some quality time and good conversation.
Kidsfest 2022
Join us for Wollaston Beach Kidsfest 2022 at Merrymount Beach on October 9th from 1pm to 4pm
COASTSWEEP
COASTSWEEP is part of the International Coastal Cleanup organized by Ocean Conservancy in Washington, DC. Volunteers from all over the world collect marine debris—trash, fishing line, and any other human-made items—and categorize and tally what they find. We will be meeting on Wollaston Beach between Beach Street and Davis
Kids’ Fest
Kids’ Fest will feature a series of age-appropriate inflatables, 5 in 1 Sports Center, Gaga ball,
Musical Bubble Barge, Giant Connect 4, Giant Jenga, Corn Hole, glitter tattoos, face painting,
prizes, and a DJ with music to facilitate games and dancing!
